The 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018) is being held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 23 to 27 July 2018.

NAM is delighted to have been selected as an official scientific media partner for the conference by the International AIDS Society.

We’ll be reporting on key research presented at the conference, publishing news online and sending out five news summary bulletins, four during the week of the conference and one the week after. The bulletins will be available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. If you already receive NAM’s regular email bulletins, you will automatically receive our conference bulletins. If you don’t, make sure you sign up so you don’t miss out.

All our conference news stories and bulletins will be published on our AIDS 2018 webpages: www.aidsmap.com/aids2018

The International AIDS Conference

The International AIDS Conference is the largest conference on any global health issue in the world. The theme of this year’s conference is “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges” which, the organisers say, draws “attention to the need of rights-based approaches to more effectively reach key populations, including in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and the North-African/Middle Eastern regions where epidemics are growing.”

This year’s conference will feature research on:

  • Final results from the PARTNER 2 study, on whether HIV can be sexually transmitted when gay men have an undetectable viral load
  • How can pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) be delivered successfully and what barriers need to be overcome?
  • The optimal use of generic antiretroviral drugs in higher- and middle-income countries
  • New research on the use of dolutegravir
  • Progress towards the 90-90-90 target
  • Differentiated service delivery: increasing capacity for test and treat
  • Responding to the criminalisation of HIV transmission.

Sharing knowledge, changing lives

NAM works to change lives by sharing information about HIV and you can help by sharing links to research presented at the conference. Please feel free to:

Community Consensus Statement on Access to HIV Treatment and its Use for Prevention

Together, we can make it happen

We can end HIV soon if people have equal access to HIV drugs as treatment and as PrEP, and have free choice over whether to take them.

Launched today, the Community Consensus Statement is a basic set of principles aimed at making sure that happens.

The Community Consensus Statement is a joint initiative of AVAC, EATG, MSMGF, GNP+, HIV i-Base, the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, ITPC and NAM/aidsmap
