Same-day PrEP initiation a favorable option for patients at risk for HIV

Same-day initiation of pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, for HIV prevention was found to be safe, feasible and well-received among patients at a walk-in STD clinic, according to a recently published study. During the study, which was conducted at a clinic in Denver, a high proportion of the participants were linked to ongoing PrEP care, researchers reported.

HIV diagnoses in Australia drop to lowest number in 18 years

Australia continues to lead the world in HIV prevention and in 2018 recorded the lowest number of HIV diagnoses since 2001. According to a report released today by the Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney, last year there were 835 HIV diagnoses across the country, which represents a decline of 23% over five years.

Free, fast track access to PrEP now available in London

Those who meet the eligibility criteria will soon get a free, six month supply of PrEP. The improved access to PrEP comes thanks to HIV and sexual health charity, Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) and the UK’s busiest sexual health clinic, 56 Dean Street.
